About the role#
The Sanford Student Nurse Internship Program is a 10-week paid experience designed to help you build confidence and clinical competence. You will work alongside an experienced nurse preceptor to gain hands-on experience in various roles and settings. This program helps you explore different areas of clinical practice to align with your career goals. Following the summer program, there may be options to extend your internship into the school year.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct and indirect patient care across all phases of health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Support daily department activities.
- Apply population-specific patient care protocols and policies to meet the physical and psychological needs of patients.
- Work within the scope and standards of practice defined by state regulations.
- Follow a professional schedule to gain insight into the daily life of a Registered Nurse.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program (associate or bachelor degree).
- Completion of an academic clinical experience.
- An expected graduation date of Fall/Winter 2027 or Spring/Summer 2028.
- Enrollment in a board-approved internship course (this requirement does not apply to internships in South Dakota, Iowa, or Wisconsin).
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position with a 36-hour weekly schedule.
- Available for Summer 2027 and Summer 2028 terms.
- Positions are available across multiple locations in South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.
