About the role#
This is a full-time Investment Intern position with Portage, the venture capital arm of Sagard. Based in Toronto, this role focuses on supporting the team in identifying and evaluating breakthrough companies within the financial services sector. You will contribute to the investment process through quantitative analysis, due diligence, and the development of investment theses.
What you'll do#
- Support portfolio companies on pivotal business initiatives.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis, including market sizing, pricing analysis, and competitive reviews.
- Monitor and analyze key performance metrics for portfolio companies to track trends over time.
- Perform commercial, financial, and product due diligence on potential investment opportunities.
- Develop company and sector-specific investment theses to help identify emerging industry trends.
What you'll need#
- A strong passion for or curiosity about investments and technology.
- Ability to work as a self-starter who can take initiative and prioritize tasks with limited guidance.
- Comfort working within an ambitious environment characterized by ambiguity.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in structuring quantitative analysis and a comfort with working with numbers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex thoughts concisely.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the team as needed.
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Communications, or Political Science.
