About the role#
Portage is looking for an analytical individual to join the team in Toronto as a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern. This role supports the team in finding and backing innovative financial services companies. You will work in a hybrid environment at our downtown Toronto office. This is a paid, full-time position for current undergraduate students available to work for 8 months from January 2027 to August 2027. We are hiring on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with business, investment, and engineering teams to identify operational pain points and research solutions.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data from portfolio companies to monitor fund performance.
- Assist with research and presentation tasks, including data visualization and deck design.
- Provide analytical and strategic support to senior management on an ad-hoc basis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Economics.
- A strong academic record.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Clear written and oral communication skills, with an ability to synthesize thoughts on markets and companies.
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities.
- A collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
