About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with heavy civil infrastructure projects, including bridges, tunnels, and highways. You will work on-site in Virginia Beach during the summer of 2027. This role is a full-time, paid position designed to introduce students to the construction process through meaningful project exposure.
What you'll do#
- Assist with material orders for both permanent and temporary suppliers.
- Attend safety and operations meetings to understand project standards.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from plan sets for upcoming work.
- Use BlueBeam and AutoCAD to help create work plan packages.
- Review daily or weekly reports of cost and manhour data.
- Coordinate between the internal team and subcontractors.
- Observe field activities, including surveying, material testing, and safety audits.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year in a Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering degree program.
- Strong computer and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, plans, and cross sections for construction projects.
