About the role#
S&B USA Construction & Fay is hiring interns for the Summer 2027 season. This role offers exposure to heavy civil infrastructure projects including bridges, tunnels, and highways. You will work on-site in Maryland to learn the construction process through hands-on tasks and field observations.
What you'll do#
- Assist in ordering materials from permanent and temporary suppliers.
- Coordinate work between the internal team and subcontractors.
- Attend safety and operations meetings, including third-party and owner briefings.
- Compile and analyze 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from plan sets for upcoming work and temporary materials.
- Review cost reports and assist in putting together force account or cost justification packages.
- Use software tools like BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and drone programs to support work plan packages.
- Shadow surveyors and material testing personnel to understand field control and quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year in a Civil Engineering, General Engineering, or Construction Management degree program.
- Strong computer and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret plans, cross-sections, and other technical project documents.
