    About the role#

    The Robotics Integration and Development Co-op joins the Robotics Center of Excellence. This group focuses on research and the development of autonomous operations. You will work on platform-level ownership, system architecture, and deployment workflows. The team emphasizes rapid prototyping and testing ideas on the factory floor. You will gain experience with Clearpath research platforms and OTTO Motors industrial AMRs, specifically working on the integration of mobile manipulators.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop and integrate software across multiple robotics subsystems to improve hardware functionality.
    • Build, deploy, and maintain robotics applications using modern containerization technologies.
    • Investigate and resolve system issues by collecting data, analyzing behavior, and debugging the full robotics stack.
    • Apply research in areas like motion planning, perception, and manipulation to real-world robotic systems.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelors or advanced degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
    • Expected graduation date of December 2027 or beyond.
    • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
    • Programming skills in Python, C++, and Linux-based environments.
    • Experience with ROS/ROS2 and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with robotic hardware, embedded systems, and software-hardware interfacing.
    • Ability to debug complex systems using logs and iterative development.
    • Prior internship or co-op experience in a related field is preferred.
    • Involvement in robotics or technology clubs and projects.
    • Ability to relocate to the Waterloo area if you live over 50 miles away.

    • Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid.
    • Employment Type: Full time.
    • Compensation: $20 to $32 CAD per hour, depending on skills and experience.
