About the role#
As a Business Intelligence (BI) Summer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by working with data, analytics, and reporting tools that drive decision-making at Rockland Trust. You will partner with experienced BI professionals to develop dashboards, analyze business information, and support reporting solutions. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while developing technical and analytical skills in a hybrid work environment.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with senior BI developers to design, build, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI.
- Assist with developing and maintaining data models, ETL processes, and reporting solutions.
- Participate in testing and validation efforts to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues in dashboards and reports.
- Help monitor data quality, pipelines, and scheduled reports to ensure consistent delivery of insights.
- Document data flows, reporting requirements, and BI processes.
- Map business processes and identify opportunities to improve reporting capabilities.
- Support users and stakeholders by maintaining existing BI solutions.
- Participate in collaborative summer projects with fellow interns to research, analyze, and develop recommendations for a real business challenge, culminating in a presentation to Bank leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field (rising Junior or Senior preferred).
- Basic understanding of programming concepts such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and reporting concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate information into clear insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Previous internship, academic project, or work experience involving programming, data analytics, or reporting is preferred.
- Exposure to relational databases and SQL is preferred.
- Coursework or certifications in Power BI, Tableau, or related technologies is preferred.
