About the role#
As an Application Risk Management Intern, you will gain hands-on experience helping Rockland Trust identify, assess, and manage technology risks across business applications. You will work alongside technology, risk, and business professionals to evaluate application controls, support risk assessments, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen the security and risk management practices of the bank.
What you'll do#
- Assist with onboarding new applications by partnering with Project Management and Enterprise Risk Management teams.
- Conduct application risk assessments by gathering and analyzing information related to application functionality, architecture, data usage, and complexity.
- Collaborate with IT application owners, infrastructure teams, and business partners to perform walkthroughs, gather documentation, and support control testing.
- Evaluate risks and identify control gaps, then document your findings and recommendations.
- Support remediation planning efforts by partnering with stakeholders to address identified risks.
- Communicate assessment results and risk impacts to business and technology partners.
- Participate in initiatives designed to enhance the application risk assessment process.
- Complete a collaborative summer project and present recommendations to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current college student with rising junior or senior status preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
- Strong time-management and project coordination skills.
- Interest in technology risk, cybersecurity, governance, or compliance.
- Initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to develop thoughtful recommendations for process or control improvements.
