Thermal Engineering Intern Fall 2026

About the role#

As a Thermal Engineering Intern, you will join the team responsible for thermal control across the Rocket Lab spacecraft portfolio. You will work alongside subject matter experts to manage design, analysis, and implementation tasks throughout the product lifecycle. This role provides an opportunity to apply engineering principles to real-world aerospace challenges while collaborating with a team of professionals.

What you'll do#

• Apply technical knowledge to solve engineering challenges under the guidance of a mentor.
• Participate in regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors to track progress and facilitate professional development.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver results on thermal engineering projects.
• Engage in departmental activities to grow your technical and professional skill set.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related math discipline.
• At least one semester of school remaining following the internship.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, which may include internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.

• Duration: Minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in August or September 2026.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
