As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will support the Space Systems Division in the development of the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) sequence. The systems engineering team serves as the primary communication node for design development and issue resolution on Rocket Lab's satellites.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with mentors and department staff to apply your knowledge and grow your technical and professional skills.
- Work within a team of professionals to apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real-world challenges.
- Participate in frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to facilitate learning and provide progress updates.
- Engage in tech talks and networking opportunities through various social and professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining following the internship.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Experience working with spacecraft or test hardware, developing and running test scripts, or debugging hardware issues.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in August or September 2026.
- Compensation: $28.00 USD per hour.
