About the role#
As an R&D Engineering Intern, you will support the development of a process to deposit phase-change materials. This work aims to improve the temperature control of solar arrays. You will join the R&D team in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to help with array performance, survivability, and manufacturability for ongoing space programs.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with your mentor and team members to grow your technical and professional skills.
- Apply engineering concepts to solve real-world challenges.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors and provide updates on your progress.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with colleagues through social and professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or team projects.
- Ability to work full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Comfort working in ambiguous situations and within small, high-performing teams.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- 6 months or more of applied engineering experience.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, latent heat, and the optical properties of materials.

- This role is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- The internship is a full-time, on-site position.
- This is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $20.00.
- Relocation assistance is available via a stipend.
