About the role#
As a Propulsion Analyst Intern, you will join the team responsible for designing and testing the Archimedes rocket engine. Based at our site in Long Beach, you will work alongside professionals to apply engineering concepts to real-world challenges. This role involves direct collaboration with mentors and supervisors to support the development of high-performance rocket hardware.
What you'll do#
- Create FEA or CFD models for new and updated engine designs.
- Gain hands-on experience analyzing critical rocket engine hardware.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with mentors to track progress and receive feedback.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and employees through professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as laboratory work, previous internships, or team projects.
- Preferred qualifications include a 3.5 GPA or higher, 6+ months of applied experience, and proficiency in Python, ANSYS, Siemens NX, MATLAB, or Solidworks.
- Preferred experience includes Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), CAD/CAM, heat transfer, cryogenics, and superficial fluid behavior.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: $28.00 per hour, with potential eligibility for a relocation stipend.
