About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience working on environmental projects throughout Oakland County during the summer of 2027. You will split your time between office tasks and field work.
What you'll do#
- Collect stormwater assets in the field using ESRI applications on tablets with a partner.
- Perform quality control on stormwater assets within a Geodatabase.
- Digitize assets into new or existing feature classes.
- Conduct water quality sampling and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Support environmental projects including spill response, illicit discharge investigations, and wetland or stream inspections.
- Process and download data into a master database using ArcGIS.
- Create maps and spreadsheets while assisting with research related to the MS4 program, NEPA compliance, and threatened or endangered species.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Proficiency with ESRI products, specifically ArcGIS Pro and Field Maps.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and conduct research without oversight.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver license and legal eligibility to work in the United States.

- Location: Oakland County, Michigan.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
