About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in both office and field settings. You will work on road projects throughout Oakland County. Assignments vary depending on your assigned division and the current project schedule.
What you'll do#
- Inspect and document construction work on road projects.
- Assist survey crews with project layout and coordination.
- Coordinate with local utilities and contractors.
- Review residential driveway permits.
- Help manage the design and construction of ground-up building projects.
- Assist the materials testing lab with sampling and testing tasks.
- Prepare and deliver a presentation on your completed projects at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Master's student in Civil or Construction Engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- Basic knowledge of engineering and construction concepts.
- Understanding of work zone safety.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally.
- A positive attitude when interacting with local residents.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Waterford, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
- Overtime: Expected, varies by department.
- Status: Paid, full-time seasonal.
