About the role#
This is a paid summer internship for law students interested in government administration. You will work on-site at our office in Beverly Hills, Michigan, during the summer of 2027. This position requires 20 to 25 hours of work per week within our standard operating hours of Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
What you'll do#
- Learn the specifics of condemnation law and how it applies to our work.
- Study SAD law, county road law, and other relevant statutory provisions such as the Open Meetings Act and FOIA.
- Assist the legal department with various projects as they arise.
- Help with the review and drafting of contracts.
- Research legal issues as directed.
- Participate in agency internship activities, including an end of the summer presentation.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a second year law school student.
- You have completed coursework in Property Law and Contract Law.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
