Your mission: As a Hardware Electronics Developer – Co-op, you'll contribute to the development of cutting-edge electronics products, leveraging your knowledge and experience in hardware design, testing and troubleshooting.
This is an 8 month co-op work term, with a start date in January 2027. This position is open to students who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program.
In this role you will:
Help in the design of electrical/electronic circuits for HVAC controls and sensors
Work on schematic capture and PCB layout
Assemble and aid in the design of production test jigs
Build prototypes by hand SMT and through hole
Document test procedures and technical notes
Test of new engineering circuits and product, thermal, cycle and endurance testing
Prepare product test apparatus for UL/CE and Safety and Smoke Control and FCC testing
Re-work defective new products
Use most current RCC application software to verify correct operation (e.g. RC - Studio/ RC-Toolkit)
This role might be right for you if you have:
Completed relevant coursework in circuits, digital systems, microprocessors, and programming
Experience with electronics design and debugging, including soldering, circuit prototyping, using oscilloscopes and other lab equipment
Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++ and Python
Experience with PCB design software and schematic capture tools such as Altium Designer or Eagle PCB
Understanding of digital and analog circuit design principles and techniques
Familiarity with various microcontroller families
Knowledge of industry standard communication protocols
Knowledge of embedded systems, including real time operating systems and device drivers
Familiarity with power electronics and power supply design principles
