About the role#
This internship offers the opportunity to build technology for products that directly empower frontline workers. You will collaborate with engineers in a high-growth environment, working on custom communication devices at the heart of the Relay platform. You will work across the full device stack, from application-layer features to deep OS and hardware integration, and contribute to a product that ships to real customers every 6 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Fix bugs and build new features spanning Android application development and OS-level programming.
- Work on operating system tasks and hardware interfaces below the Android layer.
- Develop new embedded products or microcontroller firmware.
- Collaborate with the team to ship updates to customers on a regular cycle.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or related technical field with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Strong proficiency in C, Java, or Kotlin.
- Solid developer background with Linux systems.
- Experience in embedded systems programming, such as NRF or ST-based products running Zephyr, ThreadX, or Linux.
- Experience programming Linux at or below the POSIX API layer.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
- Comfort with desktop and server Linux distributions.
- Analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and a habit of documenting your work.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and self-prioritize.
- Exposure to Agile development practices and a drive to learn.
- Android/AOSP systems programming experience and familiarity with IP networking concepts like HTTP and TCP/UDP sockets are preferred.
