About the role#
Value Engineering at Relay connects frontline operational reality with enterprise investment decisions. You will work directly with our Manager of Value Engineering, Account Executives, and Customer Success Managers to build financial cases that prove Relay's return on investment for C-suite stakeholders. This is an analytical, customer-facing role where you will contribute to live enterprise deals.
This internship consists of two phases: a part-time engagement during the Spring 2027 semester and a potential full-time, 40-hour per week program in Summer 2027 for top performers. Both phases are on-site at our Raleigh headquarters.
What you'll do#
- Build financial models to quantify the value Relay delivers across healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and hospitality sectors.
- Translate frontline operational data into executive-level business cases.
- Map prospect workflows and analyze operational metrics to identify high-impact use cases.
- Partner with sales and customer success teams on pilot strategies and account planning.
- Conduct research on competitive benchmarks and industry operations to refine our value narratives.
- Develop internal tools, proofs-of-concept, and ROI frameworks to support the broader sales organization.
- Synthesize field insights to inform pricing strategy and product roadmap discussions.
- Present your work to the company during the intern showcase.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- A minimum GPA of 3.7.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including comfort with building models and working with data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear narratives.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, or SQL, and data visualization.
- Coursework or project experience in operations research, systems engineering, supply chain, or financial analysis.
- Exposure to manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, or hospitality environments is a plus.
- A genuine curiosity about how physical-world businesses operate.

- This role is based on-site at our Raleigh, North Carolina headquarters.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
