About the role#
As a Solutions Engineer Intern, you will learn how technical expertise, customer discovery, and creative problem-solving work together during the sales process. You will work alongside experienced Solutions Engineers to understand customer workflows, configure Relay solutions, and support product demonstrations. This role offers mentorship and ownership of a scoped project, allowing you to contribute to real technical work without the pressure of leading enterprise sales cycles alone.
What you'll do#
- Shadow discovery sessions to document operational pain points, workflows, and technical requirements.
- Partner with engineers to translate customer needs into practical Relay configurations and solution diagrams.
- Research and organize technical information for security reviews, RFIs/RFPs, and IT architecture discussions.
- Explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document solution configurations, API usage, testing results, and implementation considerations.
- Create reusable assets such as diagrams, one-pagers, demo guides, and troubleshooting resources.
- Prepare handoff materials for Customer Success and Implementation teams.
- Own a scoped summer project that improves a process, demo, prototype, or integration.
- Present your findings and recommendations to Solutions Engineering leaders and cross-functional partners.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, data science, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or Spring 2028.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above is preferred.
- Foundational understanding of software, systems, networking, cloud technology, or connected devices.
- Familiarity with APIs, JSON, scripting, or application integrations through coursework or projects.
- Relevant experience from labs, research, internships, hackathons, or personal projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to ask thoughtful questions.
- A collaborative, dependable approach and comfort receiving feedback.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- You must be able to work on-site at our Raleigh, North Carolina headquarters for the duration of the program.
- We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
