About the role#
As a Robotics Software Engineer Intern, you will work within the Additive Technology team to develop and test perception pipelines for robotic arms and mobile robots. You will contribute to the development of autonomy algorithms and help integrate software with physical production systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test perception pipelines that integrate LiDAR, stereo and depth cameras, and 3D sensors.
- Contribute to localization, mapping, and cooperative autonomy algorithms.
- Prototype and evaluate sensor fusion approaches using vision, thermal, and laser scanning data.
- Support motion planning and toolpath generation for robotic grinding, welding, and gouging tasks.
- Collaborate with robotics engineers to integrate perception into real-world mobile platforms.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Python or C++ with experience in robotics or perception applications.
- Familiarity with ROS2 or other robotics middleware.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in prototyping and cooperative robotics.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with industrial robotic arms like KUKA, Fanuc, or ABB.
- Preferred: Background in SLAM, multi-robot coordination, or next-best-view algorithms.
- Preferred: Experience with GPU programming, CUDA, real-time computer vision, or NVIDIA Jetson hardware.
- Preferred: Exposure to subtractive or additive manufacturing processes.
