About the role#
As a Launch Fluids and Operations Engineer Intern, you will participate in the development, build-up, activation, and operation of launch site Ground Support Equipment (GSE). You will work on fluid systems, supporting infrastructure, and mating hardware. This role involves procedure development, system maintenance, and operational concept of operations. You will also contribute to GUI and automation development while supporting launch and integration preparations.
What you'll do#
- Design launch pad propellant and gas infrastructure.
- Create and optimize automated test sequences, procedures, and data review processes.
- Command and monitor launch pad and flight hardware using GUIs and integrated control, automation, and telemetry systems.
- Support vehicle processing and checkouts at the launch site from receiving through launch operations.
- Develop and update build flows, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Design and build hardware for Terran R stage transportation and the Terran R Recovery Barge.
- Support launch and integration preparations and operations.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student status in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work in an intense startup environment.
- Basic knowledge of fluid and structural components and instrumentation, including valves, regulators, hydraulic actuators, pressure transducers, thermocouples, flow meters, accelerometers, strain gauges, and load cells.
- Ability to take ownership of projects from beginning to end with minimal oversight.
