About the role#
The Summer 2026 MD Intern position within the Internal Medicine Clinical Development Unit offers medical students an opportunity to engage in drug discovery and development. Interns will join a project team focused on areas such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, or immunological and inflammatory diseases. You will work closely with the global program head, medical director, and clinical pharmacology director while gaining exposure to global development operations and professional development sessions.
What you'll do#
- Complete a hands-on project that impacts the business, culminating in a final presentation of your research to an internal audience.
- Perform visual and descriptive analysis of clinical trial data from recent studies or databases.
- Review pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) data.
- Undergo training in basic statistical modeling techniques using SAS JMP, including data cleaning, statistical analysis, and linear regression.
- Learn Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, including FDA and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.
- Participate in project team meetings, such as Strategic Project Teams and Global Clinical Sub-Teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited US medical school (MD program) having completed at least the first-year basic science curriculum.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for 6-8 weeks between late May/early June and August.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred: Understanding of biostatistics, experimental design, and the scientific method.
- Preferred: Experience with R Studio, Python, SPSS, SAS, or SAS JMP.
- Preferred: Prior research experience and demonstrated leadership in campus or community activities.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Tarrytown, New York.
- Hourly pay range: $32.00 - $40.70 per hour.
- Candidates must be returning to school the semester following the internship.
