About the role#
As a Test Automation Engineer Intern, you will work with the engineering team to build systems that validate battery modules and EV packs. You will write code that drives real battery hardware, assist in the development of new test stands, and debug failures across test code, firmware, and physical units. You will own a scoped project from start to finish and present your results to the team at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Write and maintain Python test automation for firmware and hardware validation using pytest and internal frameworks.
- Develop drivers and tooling for programmable power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition, and switching hardware using protocols such as SCPI, CAN, and Modbus.
- Assist in the bring-up of new test stands, ranging from physical fixtures and wiring to the software sequences.
- Investigate hardware and software failures by analyzing CAN traces, instrument logs, and bench tool data.
- Add regression coverage to CI pipelines to automate firmware validation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Working proficiency in Python, including the ability to read and modify existing codebases.
- Experience writing automated tests using pytest or a comparable framework.
- A solid understanding of circuit fundamentals, including voltage, current, resistance, and power.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and datasheets.
- Experience with Git and pull-request-based development workflows.
- Hands-on experience working safely with energized equipment like power supplies or battery hardware.
