About the role#
R-2 Contractors is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for Summer 2026. This role provides hands-on experience in heavy civil, underground utility, and power infrastructure construction. You will work alongside project managers and superintendents to support daily operations and project execution. This is a full-time, paid position based in Corvallis, Oregon.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers and engineers with daily project activities.
- Organize and maintain project files, documentation, and records.
- Support coordination efforts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Track project quantities, materials, and equipment usage.
- Participate in project meetings to learn about planning and execution.
- Review project plans, specifications, and documentation.
- Assist with submittals, RFIs, and project reports.
- Visit active construction sites to gain field exposure and observe operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering degree program.
- A basic understanding of construction principles gained through coursework.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A strong interest in heavy civil construction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
