About the role#
R-2 Contractors is looking for Project Engineer Interns to join our team in Prineville, Oregon. This program provides hands-on experience in heavy civil, underground utility, foundation, and power infrastructure construction. We offer a rolling internship structure designed to support students throughout their college careers, with opportunities to work during summer, winter, spring, and fall breaks. Successful interns may continue with us through multiple years of school and potentially transition into a full-time Project Engineer position after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Assist Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents with daily project activities.
- Organize and maintain project files, documentation, and records.
- Support subcontractor and supplier coordination efforts.
- Track project quantities, production rates, materials, and equipment usage.
- Participate in project meetings to learn about project planning and execution processes.
- Review plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Compile information for work plans, schedules, and project reports.
- Assist with submittals, RFIs, and other documentation processes.
- Perform site visits to gain field exposure and understand construction operations.
- Learn and apply industry best practices for safety and quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree program.
- A basic understanding of construction principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and work effectively in a team environment.
- High attention to detail and a positive attitude.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
