    About the role#

    The Queens District Attorney's Office offers a 9-week summer internship for first-year law students. This program places interns within bureaus across the Investigations, Criminal Practice and Policy, Appeals and Special Litigation, Major Crimes, or Supreme Court Trial divisions. You will work directly with Assistant District Attorneys to gain practical experience in prosecutorial work. This is a full-time, paid position with a stipend of $900 per week. Housing assistance is available for non-NYC residents on a case-by-case basis.

    What you'll do#

    Interns contribute to the daily operations of the office through various legal and investigative tasks. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Researching and writing assignments for pending cases.
    • Handling motion and discovery practice.
    • Assisting with search warrant applications.
    • Observing proffers and conducting civilian or police interviews.
    • Appearing in court under the student practice order.
    • Visiting crime scenes.
    • Participating in community outreach programs.
    • Attending divisional and office-wide legal training sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a first-year law student (1L).
    • A demonstrated interest in public service.
    • A demonstrated interest in criminal law.
    • Coursework in Political Science is relevant to this role.

    • Location: Kew Gardens, New York.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027 to August 6, 2027).
    • Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
