About the role#
Public Rights Project is hiring two Legal Fellows for a one-year term starting in September 2027. This role is for recent law school graduates and lawyers with fewer than three years of experience, including those completing judicial clerkships or other fellowships. You will work with the litigation team to advance civil rights and support local government efforts. The position is full-time and remote, though some travel is required for events and meetings.
What you'll do#
- Manage tasks across all stages of federal and state court litigation.
- Conduct factual and legal research to provide analysis across various jurisdictions.
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents and persuasive writing.
- Advise government clients while considering legal and justice-related factors.
- Meet with government and non-government stakeholders.
- Support or lead legal organizing and outreach initiatives.
- Help coordinate the summer law clerk program.
- Synthesize feedback from internal and external partners.
What you'll need#
- A J.D. from a U.S. law school by Spring 2027.
- A license to practice law or an active application for a license in a U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience through a judicial clerkship, legal fellowship, clinic, or other litigation work.
- Strong research, analysis, and writing skills.
- Attention to detail regarding case records and legal citations.
- Familiarity with research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and underserved communities.
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage your own time.
Location & details#
- This is a fully remote position.
- The salary for this role is $75,000.
- Travel may be required a few times per year.
