About the role#
The Industrial Engineer Intern supports the manufacturing and operations teams at Prolec Energy. You will work on improving productivity, efficiency, and process reliability in our production areas. This role offers hands-on experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. You will work alongside industrial engineers and production supervisors to identify operational improvements and gain exposure to real-world engineering practices.
What you'll do#
- Analyze manufacturing processes to find opportunities for better productivity.
- Conduct time studies, work sampling, and labor analysis to help maintain labor standards.
- Collect and analyze production data regarding throughput, cycle time, and process performance.
- Assist with process mapping and document manufacturing workflows.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives like 5S, waste reduction, and standard work.
- Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and visual management tools.
- Review plant layouts and material flow to improve production efficiency.
- Participate in problem-solving for production, quality, or process issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams on improvement projects.
- Assist with projects related to cost reduction and capacity planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analysis is preferred.
- Prior internship, project work, or coursework related to manufacturing or operations.
- Ability to work in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

- Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- This is a paid internship.
