About the role#
The Tax Operations and Innovation team builds the technology solutions and processes that allow our tax department to meet its business needs. You will work on projects that connect business goals with modern technology to create value for clients in industries like manufacturing, real estate, and private equity. This role provides insight into public accounting and the ways technology serves our clients.
What you'll do#
- Help develop and implement a tax technology strategy to automate and standardize firm operations.
- Create low or no-code technology solutions for the tax department.
- Work with Tax Subject Matter Experts to design, test, and deploy tools and templates.
- Collaborate with team members to identify technology needs.
- Gain experience with our firm's technology stack and internal tax processes.
- Analyze technology vendors and their products to support investment decisions.
- Participate in strategic research projects regarding advanced technology.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or accounting information systems, or a Master’s degree in accounting or tax.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Progress toward completing the credits required to sit for the CPA exam and obtaining your CPA license in the state where you work.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate Excel skills are preferred.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, APIs, or SQL is a plus.
Location & details#
- Locations: Southfield, Auburn Hills, Macomb, and Grand Rapids, Michigan; Chicago and Schaumburg, Illinois; Cleveland, Ohio.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- We use a hybrid, on-site work model.

- This position may require work hours exceeding 40 hours per week and occasional local or national travel.
