About the role#
As an M&A Tax Consulting Intern, you will work alongside National Tax Office professionals to help clients navigate the tax implications of restructurings, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. You will be treated like entry-level staff, focusing on practical business solutions and developing technical tax advisory skills. This role is for those who enjoy analyzing complex business issues and communicating technical concepts to various audiences.
What you'll do#
- Consult on tax issues related to restructuring, buying, or selling businesses.
- Conduct due diligence inquiries into target companies and prepare technical reports.
- Prepare projections of sell-side after-tax proceeds, buy-side tax benefits, and tax gross-up calculations.
- Consult with clients and their attorneys on transaction structuring and draft tax aspects of agreements.
- Review closed transactions to document the terms of legal agreements and tax attributes.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field, or pursuit of a JD or LLM.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Intention to pursue CPA licensure or a JD or LLM.
- Strong interest in mergers and acquisitions, transaction advisory services, and tax consulting.
- Ability to analyze complex topics and communicate conclusions clearly in writing and verbally.

- Locations: Southfield, Auburn Hills, Detroit, East Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Macomb, MI; Chicago and Schaumburg, IL; Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus, OH; Denver, CO.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment: Full-time.
- Compensation: $33 - $36 per hour.
- Status: Paid internship with rolling applications.
