About the role#
As an intern in the Japanese Business Services group, you will work directly with our staff and clients. We treat interns like entry-level staff, meaning you will contribute to real engagements rather than busy work. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure across various service lines while supporting both Japanese and American clients.
What you'll do#
- Participate in different phases of audit and tax engagements.
- Assist with planning, testing, research, and reporting.
- Work on audits, compilations, reviews, compliance, financial statements, and benefit plans.
- Engage in corporate, partnership, individual, international federal, and state and local tax projects.
- Interact with staff at all levels and our client base.
- Gain experience with business opportunities throughout the firm.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a Master’s degree in accounting or tax.
- On track to complete the necessary credits to sit for the CPA exam.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Fluent in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of the nuances of Japanese business culture.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Leadership capabilities and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship with rolling applications.
- Locations: Chicago, IL; Schaumburg, IL; Detroit, MI; and Columbus, OH.
- Work modality: Hybrid, following a principally in-person model.
- This role may require work hours exceeding 40 hours per week.
- Some local, national, and occasional international travel may be required.
- Sponsorship is available for candidates bilingual in Japanese and English.
