Intern - Business Strategy (2026 Summer)

About the role#

The Business Strategy Intern will support high-priority initiatives across the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Working alongside the Head of Business Operations and the Finance team, you will contribute to projects spanning concessions, merchandise, ballpark operations, and baseball operations. This role focuses on quantitative and qualitative analysis to help senior leadership make informed business decisions.

What you'll do#

• Support strategic projects across concessions, merchandise, gameday operations, and baseball operations.
• Build financial models to evaluate new and existing business opportunities.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking across MLB to identify best practices.
• Review departmental performance against budgets, analyze variance drivers, and prepare summaries for department leads.
• Prepare actionable insights for presentations, dashboards, and reports for senior leadership.
• Assist with vendor RFP processes, including gathering requirements and evaluating proposals.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis as requested by senior leadership.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program at the junior, senior, or graduate level.
• Pursuing a degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Data Science, Sports Management, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to translate data into recommendations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects.
• Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
