Reliability engineering at Peak Energy sits at the intersection of design, test, systems, and commercial teams. This role focuses on predicting, validating, and optimizing product performance in the field. You will work with hardware and data analysis tools to scale reliability efforts, including building custom python tools and conducting hands-on testing of components such as high-voltage battery packs and electronics.
What you'll do#
- Build custom data pipelines in python to connect and analyze reliability tests and track progress against product requirements.
- Replace off-the-shelf software by automating physics and statistical analyses that predict component lifetime under fatigue and environmental stress.
- Collaborate with design and test engineers to analyze field usage, implement accelerated life calculations, and optimize test conditions.
- Perform trade and sensitivity studies to guide commercial contract decisions regarding project maintenance and hardware design.
- Build, automate, and execute tests related to your specific area of experience.
- Engage in research, literature studies, failure physics, and failure analysis based on your background and interests.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or an equivalent field.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals within your area of study.
- Proficiency in python, data analysis, and Git usage in small repositories.
- Ability to work quickly and leverage AI tools.
- Experience with hands-on hardware testing and test automation.
- Preferred: Experience with high-voltage batteries, power electronics, or hardware reliability principles.

- Location: Burlingame, California (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Compensation: $30/hr.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
