NPI Materials Planning Intern

About the role#

Peak Energy is seeking an NPI Materials Planning Intern to support material planning and purchase order processes. This role offers hands-on experience in the strategy and operations required to launch and scale battery products. You will support initiatives across sourcing, logistics, planning, and supplier engagement for the sodium-ion battery program.

What you'll do#

• Maintain and update material requirements (MRP) data as build plans evolve.
• Track parts and long-lead items while managing the bill of materials.
• Monitor inventory levels, flag shortages or at-risk parts, and assist in expediting critical materials.
• Partner daily with engineering, procurement, production, and receiving teams to reconcile planned versus consumed materials.
• Maintain accurate item, supplier, and lead-time data within the ERP/MRP system.
• Create reports and dashboards, including shortage lists and open-PO status updates, to provide clear visibility into operations.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and comfort working with data.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and coordinate effectively across multiple departments.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to re-prioritize tasks as build plans shift.
• Interest in hardware manufacturing, batteries, clean energy, or domestic supply chain development.
• Exposure to ERP/MRP systems is a plus but not required.
