About the role#
Peak Energy is looking for a Mechanical Design Intern to join our Energy Storage Systems team. You will work on the mechanical design of utility scale sodium-ion energy storage systems. This role involves supporting mechanical system and component design while working alongside our manufacturing, test, and analysis teams.
What you'll do#
- Focus on design areas such as module enclosures, adhesives, plastic components, high current conductors, and communications harnessing.
- Work with thermal and structural analysts to inform design decisions.
- Participate in rapid prototyping and testing.
- Support product validation from initial concepts through field deployment.
- Help ensure a smooth transition from product development to mass production.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, engineering physics, or a related field.
- A strong grasp of mechanical and thermal engineering fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of power electronics and electrical fundamentals.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software and experience building prototypes.
- A passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Preferred experience includes CATIA V6 or Siemens NX, and familiarity with tools like MATLAB, FEA, or CFD.
