About the role#
Peak Energy is looking for an Automation Engineering Intern to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. You will support the automation of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing lines. This role involves working directly with senior controls, equipment, and process engineers on projects that help us scale our production capacity. You will gain hands-on experience with the systems that keep our production floor running.
What you'll do#
- Support the programming, testing, and commissioning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for BESS manufacturing equipment.
- Partner with Equipment Engineers to integrate automation solutions into new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Analyze production processes to find opportunities for automation and control improvements.
- Support the implementation and upkeep of data acquisition systems.
- Troubleshoot control system issues on the manufacturing floor alongside senior engineers.
- Assist with the maintenance of safety systems, documentation of designs, and creation of training materials.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and HMI design principles.
- Hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, or modifying automation or control systems through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Ability to work onsite in Burlingame, CA for a 3-, 6-, or 9-month term.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
