About the role#
We are looking for a Human Resources Student to join our Atlantic Canada district in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term, beginning in January 2027 for a duration of 4 months. You will work on-site as part of our Canadian Buildings sector team.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate internal training and help set up courses for professional development initiatives.
- Maintain the applicant tracking system by screening resumes, scheduling interviews, greeting candidates, and performing reference checks.
- Prepare for new employee and student orientations.
- Provide administrative support for employee career management processes.
- Organize Health and Wellness events and initiatives.
- Implement various HR projects and generate monthly reports.
- Manage the College of Construction courseware database and library.
- Assist the team with additional duties and projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a degree or diploma in human resources management or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and handle changing demands.
- You can anticipate team needs and follow up on tasks proactively.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- A genuine interest in working with people.
- Previous experience with a learning management system or applicant tracking system is considered an asset.
