About the role#
We are hiring a Building Systems Student for our Ottawa district. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term starting in January. You will work on-site for a 4-month duration, gaining hands-on experience in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Update and submit mechanical and electrical shop drawings.
- Review and verify site installations.
- Assist with quality control and track deficiencies.
- Update and input the commissioning schedule.
- Witness and coordinate commissioning activities.
- Assist with Request for Information (RFI) tracking and processing.
- Perform on-site coordination with trades and review progress.
- Support project managers with tasks related to other disciplines and trades.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program in a mechanical engineering related field.
- Interest in working in a construction environment.
- Ability to review shop and construction drawings.
- Self-motivation and a hands-on approach.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with various partners.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.

- Term: Winter 2027 (4 months).
- Compensation: $21.25 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience.
