About the role#
Pattern is looking for an AI Infrastructure Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, 12-week internship based at our headquarters in Lehi, Utah. You will work on technical challenges within the international e-commerce space, focusing on how we can use technology to solve complex problems for our users.
What you'll do#
- Build and improve shared AI platform components like the AI gateway, tool registry, and workflow automation.
- Develop integrations and tools, including MCP servers, to connect AI agents to our products and data.
- Create evaluations and observability checks to measure the quality, cost, and reliability of models, agents, and workflows.
- Turn proven AI skills and prompts into automated, production-ready workflows with appropriate guardrails.
- Review code, ship through CI/CD, document your work, and gather feedback from internal users to guide future iterations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Python or another general-purpose language such as TypeScript or Java.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, and code review.
- Strong problem-solving skills, an ownership mindset, and an eagerness to learn in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with APIs and cloud infrastructure like AWS, containers, and CI/CD is preferred.
- Exposure to LLM APIs, agents, or MCP is a plus, as is an interest in AI platform problems like model gateways and observability.
