About the role#
STR is seeking a Data Analyst Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports data analysis, business systems, process improvement, and operational documentation. You will gain hands-on experience in data interpretation, reporting, and workflow analysis while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Collect, organize, validate, and analyze data to support business operations and decision-making.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, and data trackers using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
- Analyze data trends, identify discrepancies, and summarize findings to support process improvement.
- Evaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation or standardization.
- Document business processes and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Create training documentation, user guides, and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and content development tools like Articulate.
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement of SharePoint sites and document management systems.
- Support data quality initiatives by maintaining accurate records and validating information.
- Collaborate with teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with or an interest in data visualization tools like Power BI and querying languages like SQL.
- Ability to learn new software applications and technical tools quickly.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with or interest in SharePoint, document management, and workflow analysis.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Previous experience in data analysis, technical documentation, or process improvement is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site at our Arlington, Virginia or Woburn, Massachusetts locations.
