    About the role#

    The Transmission Planning Intern will support the Transmission Regional Planning team in developing comprehensive, reliable, and efficient transmission plans. This role involves technical support and system reliability analysis to help meet energy goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Interns will work alongside experienced planners to gain insight into the electric transmission planning organization.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the preparation of the Base Case and Forecast for the Annual Transmission Planning Assessment.
    • Perform transmission planning studies related to compliance, reliability, load or generation interconnection, and inter/intra-regional assessments.
    • Conduct long-term studies to develop strategies for the safe, economic, and efficient operation of the electric transmission system.
    • Review and develop electrical computer simulation models for transmission lines and substations.
    • Create programs for computer simulation tools using Python scripts and Engineering Programming Computer Language (EPCL).
    • Review electrical single-line and operational diagrams to support future planning.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, with a preference for power systems focus.
    • Must be continuing education towards a degree during or after the internship.
    • Cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
    • Engineering experience in utilities, construction, municipalities, or engineering consultation.
    • EIT or FE certification is preferred.

    • Term: Summer 2026.
    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Status: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
