Substation Operations Intern

About the role#

This internship provides an opportunity to support Electric Operations, the department responsible for the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. You will work on projects related to workforce planning, strategic mapping, and operational data analysis. This is a paid, full-time hybrid position for Summer 2026, requiring you to be on-site in Oakland, California, at least 2-3 days per week.

What you'll do#

• Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor business performance.
• Analyze data to support critical product and business decisions.
• Collate information from disparate sources to support operations.
• Assist Workforce Planning and Strategists in developing project plans and strategic roadmaps.
• Facilitate coordination across internal subject-matter experts.
• Support incident investigations and the tracking of strategy work-streams.
• Create data visualization tools and develop applications using Power Automate, Power Apps, SQL, and Power BI.
• Lead information management processes and map organizational gaps.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Business, Social Studies, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
• Commitment to continuing your education during or after the internship.
• A valid driver’s license to travel to field offices within the service territory as needed.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to solve problems in innovative ways.
• Proficiency in project management and continuous improvement methods.
