Safety and Operations Compliance, Intern

About the role#

The CPUC Compliance Excellence Internship provides hands-on experience with regulatory compliance processes, customer complaint management, and data validation. You will work within the Compliance Excellence organization to support regulatory and customer-focused initiatives, assisting senior staff with audits, data requests, and the maintenance of compliance records. This role offers exposure to PG&E’s internal compliance framework and the requirements set by the California Public Utilities Commission.

What you'll do#

• Track and analyze customer complaints in relation to CPUC requirements.
• Collect, validate, and organize data for CPUC information requests.
• Develop compliance summaries, dashboards, and tracking tools.
• Review regulatory correspondence and supporting documentation.
• Maintain compliance records and evidence repositories.
• Support process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal teams to gather information for regulatory responses.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Data Analytics, Legal Studies, or a related field at an accredited university.
• Must be continuing education towards your degree during or after the internship.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze information for gaps or inconsistencies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Location & details#

• Location: Oakland, California.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: Hybrid.
• Compensation: $24.52 to $35.37 per hour.
• Note: This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
