    About the role#

    This internship provides an opportunity to support the Transmission Regional Planning team in developing strategies for a safe, reliable, and efficient electric transmission system. You will work alongside experienced planners to analyze system needs, ensure compliance with reliability standards, and contribute to projects that support clean energy goals.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the preparation of the Base Case and Forecast for the Annual Transmission Planning Assessment.
    • Conduct transmission planning studies covering compliance, load or generation interconnection, reliability, and inter-regional assessments.
    • Perform long-term studies to develop comprehensive expansion plans for the electric transmission system.
    • Review and develop electrical computer simulation models for transmission lines and substations.
    • Create programs using Python and Engineering Programming Computer Language (EPCL) for simulation tools.
    • Review electrical single-line and operational diagrams to support future planning.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, with a preference for a focus on power systems.
    • Must be continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship.
    • A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
    • Preferred qualifications include an EIT or FE certification and prior engineering experience in utilities, construction, municipalities, or consulting.

    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Employment type: Full-time, paid internship.
