ATS Safety Program Intern

About the role#

The Applied Technology Services department is seeking an intern to support and grow an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program. You will gain exposure to OSHA standards, regulatory compliance, and management systems while working alongside experienced professionals. This role offers the opportunity to lead small projects, research industry best practices, and contribute to the development of safety training materials and communication campaigns.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of workplace safety programs and procedures.
• Support safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments at the test facility and project sites.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and training records.
• Participate in incident investigations by gathering data, preparing summaries, and identifying contributing factors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote safety awareness and continuous improvement.
• Research regulatory requirements and emerging safety technologies.
• Provide general administrative support to the EHS team.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Environmental, Industrial, or Civil), Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Must be continuing education toward your degree during or after the internship.
• A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction.
