About the role#
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer / AutoCAD Design Intern will support the Facilities Maintenance and Engineering team in the planning, design, and documentation of facility infrastructure systems. This role provides hands-on experience within an active manufacturing environment, focusing on how engineering design and project execution support daily plant operations and long-term facility improvements. You will work closely with facilities managers, engineers, and maintenance staff to maintain accurate documentation and assist with ongoing facility projects.
What you'll do#
- Update, maintain, and revise AutoCAD drawings for facility layouts, mechanical systems, and electrical drawings.
- Assist with space planning, renovations, equipment installations, and facility improvement projects.
- Support Facilities Engineers with field verifications, site walkdowns, measurements, and as-built documentation.
- Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established drafting and engineering standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to facilities design, documentation, and processes.
- Prepare layout drawings, design support materials, and assist with project task tracking.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of building systems such as HVAC, utilities, and electrical infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
