About the role#
The Conservative Writer Intern contributes to our mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. You will work within the Core Content Department to produce political content, including OpEds and Policy Proposals. This role involves collaborating with a team of conservative, progressive, and moderate writers to cover eight specific policy areas: Governance, Economics, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Foreign Policy and Defense, Justice and Public Safety, Social Issues, and Science, Environment and Technology.
What you'll do#
- Produce consistent content for our website.
- Write political commentary, OpEds, and policy proposals.
- Participate in civil dialogue with writers from across the political spectrum.
- Ensure all published work reflects our commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate.
- Take part in podcasts, events, and other assignments as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Political Science, Journalism, English, Literature, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills in English.
- Proficient verbal communication and speaking skills.
- Experience in policy research, political commentary, or political science is preferred.
- Ability to work remotely and manage your own schedule to meet deadlines.
- Comfort with Google Workspace.
- Availability to attend weekly Organization-Wide and Core Content Department meetings.
- Authorization to intern in the U.S.
- A commitment to our mission, including a willingness to engage in polite debate with those who hold opposing political perspectives.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, unpaid internship.
- Work is conducted primarily over Zoom and Slack.
- We require a commitment through the end of the current semester.
- Applicants must submit a writing sample with their application.
