About the role#
The Conservative Writer Intern contributes to our mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. You will work within the Core Content Department to produce high-quality OpEds and policy proposals. While you are responsible for your own content, the process involves collaboration and political discussion with a team of conservative, progressive, and moderate writers. Exceptional writers may have the opportunity to contribute to a book published by the organization.
What you'll do#
- Write consistent content for the website in collaboration with a team of writers.
- Ensure all published work reflects a commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate.
- Engage in civil dialogue with writers across the political spectrum focused on eight key policy areas, including governance, economics, infrastructure, healthcare, foreign policy, justice, social issues, and technology.
- Participate in podcasts, events, and other assignments as needed.
- Attend weekly organization-wide and Core Content Department meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Political Science, Journalism, English, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills in English and proficiency in verbal communication.
- Experience in policy research, political commentary, or political science.
- A commitment to our values and a willingness to engage in polite debate with those holding opposing perspectives.
- Ability to work remotely and manage your own schedule to meet deadlines.
- Experience with Google Workspace.
- Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, unpaid, full-time internship.
- The role is based out of Los Angeles, California, but operates remotely.
- You must commit to at least the end of the current semester.
