About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern in Houston, you will support hands-on projects designed to improve productivity and efficiency across our assembly and production operations. You will work alongside the Manufacturing Engineering team on assembly line optimization, quality improvement, and material flow initiatives. This role provides exposure to real-world manufacturing challenges while allowing you to apply engineering concepts to projects that reduce assembly time and improve worker efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Support assembly line optimization projects to reduce assembly time per unit and improve productivity.
- Conduct time studies and process analysis to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Assist with material flow studies and layout improvements to enhance material handling and worker efficiency.
- Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste.
- Analyze manufacturing data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for process improvements.
- Use technical tools such as Excel macros, Power BI, and simulation software to support data analysis.
- Bring a fresh perspective and knowledge of current manufacturing techniques and Lean methodologies.
What you'll need#
- Current student working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Exposure to process optimization, time studies, material flow analysis, or manufacturing simulation.
- Experience with Excel macros, Power BI, simulation software, or other data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering and production teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
