About the role#
The Ontario Securities Commission is hiring Summer Accounting Students for the 2027 term. You will work within one of four divisions: Registration, Inspections and Examinations, Corporate Finance, Enforcement, or Finance and Administration. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto. These positions provide exposure to technical competencies required for the CPA designation, including financial reporting, audit and assurance, and management accounting. You will receive mentorship and guidance from senior accounting staff throughout your term.
What you'll do#
- Conduct reviews of registered firms and regulated entities to assess compliance with securities laws.
- Complete continuous disclosure reviews of public company filings.
- Perform research on industry-wide trends and patterns.
- Apply forensic accounting techniques to review and analyze financial and non-financial documentary evidence.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and note disclosures.
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end financial close procedures, including account reconciliations and variance analyses.
- Prepare materials for use in regulatory proceedings and update process documentation.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least your second year of university.
- Enrollment in a Commerce or Business Administration degree program with a specialization in Accounting.
- An interest in pursuing a CPA designation.
- A demonstrated ability to manage multiple demands on your time.
